The
Emmsmoor
Story
Having always specialised in blue merle
and tricolour collies, sables were
introduced almost by accident, after
the tragic death of our beautiful
Ch. Corydon Handsome Hotspur tricolour
daughter,
Castlemaddy Nighean Alun of Emmsmoor, at only three years of age. In an attempt to breed something similar, Nighean’s grand-dam, Melia, was put to Hotspur, from which we retained Emmsmoor Coppagalaxy, one of seven dogs, six of them sable and white.
Showing was always of secondary importance to this kennel, which was principally interested in breeding stock of a particular type. Never having followed fashion, our collies, in several ways, retained many of the old virtues, including size and substance. Having selected for shape rather than excess coat and sweet expression, we never lost either length or neck. Yes we had our faults, but these we could live with, and in many ways we achieved our original goal of producing a line synonymous with the name of ‘EMMSMOOR’.
