The deaths of Fred Robson, his kennel
manager
Harold Ribbins EDEN, Miss Grey
LADYPARK, and Mrs Nadine George BEULAH,
removed these very competitive kennels
from the show scene, while
MYWICKS lost
much of its aggressive edge after being transferred to
Mr and Mrs Rippon on the death of Mr Mycroft. Amongst the dominant kennels from the previous decade, DUNSINANE, ANTOC, PATTINGHAM, and GLENMIST were possibly the most active during this decade. Of the many new kennels Jimmy Tait ABERTHORNE, Thelma and Gordon Duncan, BRETTONPARK, Diana Cochrane DUNTIBLAE, and Geoff and Pat Mildon GEOFFDON all made significant contributions to Rough Collie development, but perhaps the most far reaching was that made by the ROKEBY kennel of Jack and Betty Eglin. The Blue Merle has always attracted a small band of specialist breeders, and of its supporters during the 60s the influence of Jim and Joyce Seargent CARRAMAR, Mrs Caygil CROSSTALK, and Lyn Westby LOWERPARK can still be detected in today’s collies, as can those of Vera Hickson, nee Streeter, and second husband Eddie BRIRICH, who were influential in all three colours.
