Ch Wychelms Silver Maid
Nor did Smooth bitch line escape the
taint of Rough Collie bloodlines,
although both
Hewburn Perfection
and
Wychelms Silver Maid could
both trace their dam’s ancestry back to
the very best of early Smooth Collie
breeding. The Foster brothers
REDEVALLEY kennel also owned a Smooth family which included little or no Rough Bloodlines in direct female decent, although it has to be admitted their line through Brenda’s Girl did peter out into unregistered and untraceable ancestors.
With established fanciers keen to attract and enthuse new breeders and exhibitors with their own dedication a number of new specialist regional clubs were formed dedicated to furthering the Collie’s interest through competition, social events and educational sessions. At the end of the war the Collie, whether Rough or Smooth, was served by two national and five regional clubs, by the end of the decade two new regions gained their own society, and London acquired a second, making a total of ten societies dedicated to promoting the Collie. Each of these clubs supported by established Collie enthusiasts, with a membership drawn from, but not limited to, Collie owners of all levels from within their geographical area.
