The LAUND kennel was particularly
successful in the year immediately
following the re-commencement of
shows after the first world-war,
collecting 13 Challenge Certificates with
three different Rough Collie dogs plus 5 Challenge Certificates with the bitch Laund Likeness, who became the first post Great-War Rough Collie to gain the necessary tickets to claim her title. However these achievements paled into insignificance when considered against those attained by Mr Stansfield’s star performer Laund Lynne, a Smooth Collie bitch who, sweeping all before her, to annex all seven bitch tickets allocated to Smooth Collies in 1920. But even her gallant efforts were eclipsed by Mr Howson’s tricolour Smooth Collie dog Eastwood Extra who, having gained his title with 5 Challenge Certificates in 1910, added a further 22 before retiring after Birkenhead’s Championship Show, in June 1914 where Mr H. Packwood BILLESLEY considered him of sufficient merit to award him the single Challenge Certificate for Best Collie, Rough or Smooth, thus establishing a Smooth Collie record with 27 Challenge Certificates which stood until Ch Newarp Silver Moonbeam established a new record with 33 Challenge Certificates in 1991.
