For all this the Collie’s popularity on the
world stage continued unabated inspiring
many new fanciers to join its ranks.
New names and kennels to join those
already established included, Mr W. T. Horry BOSTON/TYTTON - Mr J. Roxburgh ANNANDALE - Mr R. H. Lord SEEDLEY - Miss P. M. Deveson-Jones MORETON and Mr R. G. Howson EASTWOOD, all of which attained sufficient influence during the first decade of the 20th century to dictate the Collie’s development over subsequent years.
Winning Collies included such famous Rough dogs as Barwell Masterpiece, Scalp Hero, Wishaw Clinker, Southport Sample, Squire of Tytton, and in bitches the three Seedleys Constance, Sylvia and Sapphire. However Ch Wishaw Leader’s Cruft’s 1906 win was possibly the most spectacular, for having annexed the Dog CC with Best of Breed from specialist judge Mr J. C. Dalgleish ELLWYN, he added Best Non-Sporting Group and the Challenge Bowl for Best Champion, precursor to the Best In Show award, on the first occasion it was offered these latter awards judged by a panel including Messrs F. Gresham and L. P. C. Astley, both closely involved with Collies during their early canine careers.
